Mother nature continues to play havoc with the preparation of local teams. Most if not all Saturday scrimmages were rained out. If you have word of rescheduled scrimmages please let me know.

Both local newspapers revealed their 2005 season previews this morning.

This morning's Republic features a nice photo of four "returning" Hamilton pitchers. Unfortunately, all 4 graduated in May. Ooops....

Congratulation's to 2004 Desert Mountain Grad Willy Fox, who homered in his first start at DH for ASU yesterday against Tulane.

2-17-05

Weather permitting we hit the ground running with dozens of scrimmages on Saturday the 19th.

I'm looking for tournament schedules....any tournaments, don't assume I have them as they can be hard to come by. If you have a copy of a schedule to fax send it to 480-763-6934. You can e mail to rb@azdiamondreport.com

North Canyon's Jason Davis (above), one of the top players in the 2007 class, will miss the 2005 season with a shoulder injury. He should be ready to return in the early summer. Join me in wishing Jason a speedy recovery.

I am happy to announce that Eric Anderson from Horizon High School has given a verbal commitment to the University of Portland to play for the Pilots in the 2006 season and will sign during the spring signing period in April.

In addition to being one of the better righthanded pitchers in the 2005 class, Eric is also an outstanding student. He carries a 4.71 GPA at Horizon and has a 1390 SAT score and a 31 ACT under his belt. In addition, Eric has taken 3 parts of the SATII and has scored an 800 on the Writing Portion, 790 Math, and 780 Chemistry. It simply doesn't get much better than that folks.

Congratulations to one of Arizona's most impressive student athletes.
