Area scouts got their first spring look at
Tim Alderson of Horizon on Friday at Chaparral. Horizon beat Chaparral
12 to 1 in 6 innings. Alderson pitched 5 innings giving up 1 hit
striking out 7. (1 unearned run) Kevin Rhoderick & Joey
Bristyan had two hits each. Rhoderick closed things out on the
mound for the Huskies.
Pinnacle is 2-2 in the Donnenfield Tournament. They beat Cibola 13-3
on Friday before a tough 13-12 last inning loss on Saturday to Ironwood
Ridge. Ridge scored 7 times in the 7th for the win.They get a big test
tonight at Brophy.
Notre Dame is off to a good start this season, run ruling Saguaro and
Greenway in their first two games. They are also 3-0 in the McClintock
Tournament, 10 run ruling Prescott and Mingus Mountain, and beating
McClintock in a pitchers battle dominated by Craig Kinneberg (Senior)
2-1. The first six batters in the lineup have all homered this
year.
From Friday:
Prescott beat Casa Grande 3-2 in 9 innings at the McClintock
tournament.
Rick Anton drove in the game winner in the bottom of the ninth and
pitched 8
innings allowing five hits.
From Saturday:

Sophomore lefty Willie Hammock went four innings for
the win Catcher Colin Gray had three hits and three RBI for Prescott and
Cam Schiller had two more hits.
In the first of two on Saturday, O'Connor defeated Westwood 9-2
behind Senior Jake Robinson. Robinson yielded 3 hits in 4 innings. He
was relieved by Clark McCarthy who gave up 0 hits in 3 innings of
relief.
Adrian Ramirez continued his torrid pace going 3-4 at the dish. Home
runs by Bryant Burnett, Maverick Lasker and Ramirez for the Eagles.
In the second game O'Connor topped Mountain Ridge 9-2. Senior Josh Moody
gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned, with 4 strike outs in 6 innings of
work for the Eagles in the victory. Brian Carr pitched a perfect 7th
inning stiking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced.
Mike Vetter was the losing pitcher for the Mountain Lions.
Adrian Ramirez continued smoking the ball going 3-3, and Brian Carr 2-3
for the Eagles in the victory. Tyler Ermish also contributed 2-4 for the
Eagles.
Adrian Ramires is 9-11 for the Eagles this season.
Agua Fria completed a sweep in the Westside Tournament today with a
10-0, 5-inning win over Marcos De Niza. Senior Xavier Martinez threw a
no-hitter and Sammy Solis hit a grand slam to pace the Owls. Marcos
reportedly pulled their starters after the first inning.
Agua Fria outscored opponents 46-1 in their five wins in the
tournament.
Desert Mountain improved to 2-0 with a win at Millenium 6-2 on Friday
night. Ryan Thompson went 3-4 with 4 RBIs and gave the Wolves the
cushion they needed with a 2-run homer in the 6th. Jason Butler threw
five strong innings with 9 strikeouts and Brad Douthit came on to close
the game against the Tigers.
Mountain Pointe won a pair of close games on Saturday at the Aztec
Classic. The Pride took a 6-5 decision over Westwood with Nick Lira
stroking a walk off base hit in the bottom of the 8th for the win.
Later on against Corona, it was Lira again with a game tying base
knock in the bottom of the seventh that kept things alive. A Philip
Konieczny double followed by a game winning RBI by David Darnell sealed
the deal.
J.J. (aka Mariano) Ethel, normally the Pride's starting catcher,
picked up the wins in relief in both contests.

Mesa Mountain View picked up wins over Desert Vista (9-0) and
Hamilton 6-5. Coltin White got the win over DV with Micah Yetter leading
the way offensively with 3 hits.
In the Hamilton contest, the Toros rallied for 4 runs in the bottom
of the seventh to caim the win. Sophomore Cory Bernard tossed 6 strong
innings for Hamilton. Matt Helm was 2-4 with a homer for the Huskies.
For the Toros, 4 pitchers combined for the win. Hunter Reynolds, Tim
Willsey, and Riley Nielsen all had multi hit games.

Red Mountain split a pair on Saturday, dropping Ironwood 12-3 and
falling short to Hamilton 12-9.

Brophy survived a scare against North Canyon on Saturday
night, rallying late for a 9-6 win. The Rattlers took a 5-0 lead into
the bottom of the 4th before the Broncos got untracked. Riccio Torrez
homered for Brophy.
